Become a Commercial Pilot
So you've decided you would like to make flying your career but you want something a bit different - you don’t want to become an Airline pilot! Over the last 15 years CATS has helped many students complete their commercial pilot license (CPL).
Pilots that have completed their CPL have gone on to work as flight instructors and charter/ferry pilots or worked in aerial photography, banner towing, crop spraying, to name just a few career paths!
INTERVIEW/SELECTION - An aptitude test is a set of assessments that determine how well your skill matches up to the skills required of a pilot.
MEDICAL - This is taken at this point to ensure that you will be able to continue to the end of the commercial training without a hitch.
PPL/BASIC FLIGHT TRAINING - This is approximately the first 50 hours of flight training, covering core skills.
CPL OR ATPL THEORY - The primary course study phase occurs before the CPL flight course. This is a part time self-study section of the course, which is typically spread over 12-18 months.
HOUR BUILDING - This additional approximately 100 hours of flight time is structured to build quality skills and experience.
CPL - The ‘Commercial Pilot Licence’ course covers more complex scenarios and equipment.
FI - The ‘Flight Instructor’ course provides an industry-standard structured teaching skills qualificaton.
CB-IR/IR - The ‘Competency-Based Instrument Rating’ or alternatively, the ‘Instrument Rating’ are two options to permit flying in poor weather.
CATS Commerial Pilot courses have been specifically designed to give access to the very best facilities the UK has to offer. The courses utilise our theory training school on the edge of London and the UK’s most highly-regarded flight training facilities.

Modular CPL Courses require complete payment over the 18-60 month course term.
This route, in particular, is more suited to an individual who has other employment or who is entirely self-sponsored. It has lower overall costs than airline careers.

Mortgage-based and other secured loan products are available to spread the payments over a longer term.
